Board Meeting Feedback
An Open Board Meeting was held on Friday 1st April and an invitation was extended to all parents or guardians to discover more about the role of the Board.
Parents who attended the meeting gave terrific suggestions to the Board about how we can improve our communication with the parent community.
Who is on the Board?
Parents Sabine Huhnerbein and Kylie Belcher are the parent representatives while Ms. Hayley MacNeal is the P and C rep. Mr Keith Newton is the Chair, with Ms. Alannah. MacTiernan and Dr Lorraine. Hammond representing the community. Staff representatives are Mrs Egan and Mrs. O'Donovan. I also hold a position on the Board. Mrs Sinclair provides the Board with Administrative support.
What does the Board do?
We are creating a list of Frequently Asked Questions that we will place on our Website which are designed to help parents understand the role of the school. We'd love to hear your questions, which we will answer and place the response on the FAQ list on the website.
So, what does the Board do?..... It plays an important role in the following:
1. A member of the Board, usually the Chair, is part of the panel that selects the Principal.
2. It sets the strategic direction of the school, including the Vision and Mission.
3. It approves the budget that is developed by the school
4. It holds the school accountable for the targets and outcomes that are achieved by asking tough questions about our performance.
5. Members participate in the Independent School Review process
6. It works with the school to develop the three year Business Plan.
7. Supports, advocates for, acknowledges and celebrates successes!
What doesn't the Board do? .......
1. Hire or fire teachers (or the Principal)
2. Have anything to do with the day to day running of the school.
3. Respond to parent complaints
