News from Mr Morgan, Deputy Principal Year Five and Six

There were many highlights in term 1, visits from local high schools, Harmony Day, Summer carnival and the Girls Carnival.

The School Counsellors took over the assemblies and did a fantastic job of running all the assemblies and the ANZAC Services.

In term 2 we will be focussing on Numeracy and Literacy and teachers will be assessing regularly ready for Semester 2 School Reports which will be handed out in Week 10.

Attendance will be a high priority this term as we try to achieve our target of 95% attendance or above. We have started this term badly with many students taking Monday off thinking it was a pupil free day. Please check your calendars.

Remember every time you are absent from school, a note, email or phone call needs to be provided explaining the absence.

The year 6’s will have further visits from our local high schools show casing their different programs.

It is important that every year 6 student is enrolled in a High School by the end of the year.

The year 6’s will be participating in High Tea, Spinal Care Incursion, Cecil Andrew’s Roadshow, Youth Justice Incursion, Cecil’s Stem Show, Winter carnival and Strings and Brass Concerts.

The school Chaplain has been visiting the year 6 classes running a course on Cyber Bullying. It is very important that as a parent you monitor the students’ use of Social Media, especially Instagram and Facebook.

The year 5’s will be completing NAPLAN in weeks 3 and 4 and many classes have been practising past tests in their classrooms. It was fantastic to see so many students at out NAPLAN Club on Wednesday with 67 students attending from year 3 and 5.

It is very important that we work hard, attend every day and do our very best in all subjects.

If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Michael Morgan
