The event will allow teams of children and their families to compete against others in a long distance relay. The event is a long distance relay with teams of eight participating. Each team must have 4 Challis students and 4 adults. Anyone under the age of 11 will be entered as a child, anyone 12 or above will be entered as an adult, allowing older siblings to participate. Staff will also be able to participate, though they must also have 4 Challis children with them to complete the team.

The course will be a 2km track that begins with a lap of the school oval before heading out the gate and onto Braemore Street. From there runners continue onto Williams, right onto Challis and right again onto Claunelle to return to the school oval. Following the boundary of the oval, runners will take the alley onto Clybucca, head right to Lowanna and then make their way once again onto the school oval. Staff will be stationed around the course to monitor the safety of all competitors. Children will need to run one lap of this track while the adults must complete two laps.

One child and one adult from each team will be running on the course at the same time. The first team to have all 8 runners across the finishing line will be the winners.

A sausage sizzle will be available throughout the event with all proceeds going to Telethon.

This is a fantastic opportunity for families to participate in a fun, friendly competition that promotes health and fitness.

Entry forms can be collected from the front office. Once completed, the form can be handed to any classroom teacher, who will send it up to the front office. Places will be strictly limited to 15 teams and as such, the first 15 completed forms to be registered with the office will accepted.

We would love to see families who don’t want to participate to still come down and help cheer on the runners, buy a sausage and be a part of the first ever Great Challis Relay!
