Last Thursday evening, just a short walk over the road at the Salvation
Army Hall, Challis Community Primary School took another run at
launching its Fathering Project Dads group. The idea behind this group is
to involve our student’s dads and father figures further into our school
community, which research demonstrates will lead to better academic
and behavioural outcomes.
As some of you may remember we tried this a couple of years ago but seasonally for a host of factors
it was not the time for our school dad’s and fathering figures to get involved and take the next step. I
am pleased to announce that the launch was a success with a 500% increase in attendance from the
previous go-round. We still have a short way to go to gain the critical mass of dads and father-figures
we desire but this is a fantastic start. Please continue to help identify the dad and father figures in
your classrooms who you think would be an ideal candidate, have them join our online group using
the QR codes located around the school or point them in my direction and I’d love to have a chat,
answering any questions they may have.
