Year 4, 5 and 6 girls invited their Mum’s, Grans, Aunts, or significant female role models to join them to celebrate our 2023 theme to “Embrace and Love Your Mind, Body and Soul”. Guests were treated to beautiful performances by the Choir of “A Million Dreams” led by Mrs Henderson and a Violin Ensemble accompanied by Miss Kendra of “Happy Together”.
We were joined by a group of very special guests including the Mayor of Armadale, Ruth Butterfield, the now retired and very adored Mrs Denise Bibby, everyone’s favourite former Challis teacher, Mrs Liane Taylor, Challis Mum & Bub, Mrs Tyneal Skinner and little Charlie and our wonderful friends at Artemis Media, Mrs Katrina Tutor and Mrs Celia Tait. Celia presented the school with yet another donation of two full sized Cello’s and a Trombone for our music program.
Our guest speaker, Sarah Ford from the Sarah Ford Foundation spoke of her personal struggles with anxiety, depression, and PTSD and how she regained her mental and physical health through group fitness classes. Sarah is now a Personal Trainer and a resident of Armadale who is committed to growing her foundation with a focus to support women who have experienced domestic violence and struggles with mental health to regain their sense of self through fitness. Sarah’s foundation provides access to these services to all, no matter their financial circumstances.
Guests were also treated to a delicious selection of bite sized treats and beverages, along with a photo booth, nail painting, hair fluffing, arts and craft and jewellery making activities.
Events like these are not possible without the support of our dedicated staff (even our male staff from behind the scenes) volunteering their time, donating, and preparing food, donating prizes and the very generous support of the City of Armadale’s Community Grant.
Congratulations to the many lucky door prize winners.
This event showcases kindness and care for our community, the ‘Challis Way’.
