Hari Indonesia - LOTE
Friday 28th March 2014
On Friday 28th March (Week 8) Challis Schools will be holding Hari Indonesia to celebrate the learning of Indonesian at this school. All Challis students from Pre-Primary to Year 7 will be involved where they will participate in different activities throughout the day. Kindergarten children will not be joining us on this day.
These activities include:
- Making decorative fans
- The making of an Indonesian dessert called ‘Pisang dan nanas goreng’ (fried banana and pineapple)
- A bilingual puppet show called ‘Cerita Dari Hutan’ or ‘The Jungle Book’ performed by the Carousel Theatre
- A traditional Indonesian dance workshop (presented by the internationally recognised Indonesian Dance Company ‘Suara Indonesia’)
‘Pisang dan nanas goreng’ is a traditional dessert dish served across Indonesia. Banana and pineapple will be dipped into a batter and then shallow fried. Students will have either chocolate sauce or cream on the side. If you know of recent changes to your child’s food allergies or have not yet completed a medical form for your child, please fill out a medical form at the school office.
Hari Indonesia is going to be a fantastic opportunity for students at Challis to participate in activities that celebrate the diversity of Indonesia. This is the first cultural event that both schools have joined and celebrated together. All Primary School students will be joined with a buddy class from the Junior School and new friendships will be formed in this culturally enriched setting.
Please make sure that your child brings recess and lunch as it will not be provided on the day.
To cover the costs of this incursion, it is requested that each child bring $5.00 along with the permission form to their classroom teacher over the next few weeks of term. All money and permission forms are due back by Monday 21st March. All students will also receive a free Indonesian show bag on the day.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the school on 9399 3255.
